How many of you enjoy those fun advent calendars at Christmastime?
I remember growing up, one of our Christmas traditions was advent calendars. You know, those fun calendars that families use to count down the days until Christmas? And, usually, each day, when you open or peel back the date, you find a fun treat or a puzzle clue to help you find your small present for that day. There are hundreds of different types of advent calendars. Heck, there’s even advent calendars for cat lovers, wine aficionados, and cheese connoisseurs.
But have you ever heard of an advent calendar for authors? I had never! Not until my good friends at Writers Helping Writers (Angela Ackerman and Becca Puglisi) told me about their fun and unique virtual advent calendar!
“So, how does an advent calendar for authors work?”, you might ask.
Let me tell you about this really cool idea you MUST participate in right now.
Rather than finding a piece of chocolate behind each day of the calendar, participants will find awesome giveaways from leaders in the writing industry, including me! From December 1 through December 14, authors who participate have an opportunity to win prizes valued at over $2,300!
It looks a little something like this:
Now, I know that’s a little cryptic, but I promise you will not be disappointed in each day’s giveaway! For example, Day 1, which started December 1, when opened, takes participants to a separate page where they discover the offer from Lisa Nesko Natiello, USA Today Bestselling (indie) author of The Mystery Box, which sold over one-hundred-thousand copies! The winner of this prize will receive a one-hour book marketing session with Lisa where she will review your book’s website, social media pages, and other marketing platforms and give you actionable tips and tricks you can take to boost your book marketing strategy.
So, let’s say you wanted to enter to win this one-hour marketing session with Lisa. You’d simply click on the button on her page that looks like the one below, and using Rafflecopter, you’ll enter the contest using as many options as possible to increase your chances of winning this day’s prize.
Each day, take a moment to learn a bit about that day’s expert. Everyone participating in this giveaway event has a huge heart for helping authors. Not only that, but everyone is also highly skilled and knowledgeable in their area of expertise. So, even if you don’t win a particular prize, you can still reach out to any of those experts and see if they are taking on new clients.
For example, I can’t speak for the other experts involved, but I can say for me, anyone who reads this blog and enters to win on my day (Day 9) but isn’t chosen, if you email me via my website and type ADVENT2020 in the subject line, I’ll offer you 20% off any of my services or products! That includes author coaching, book editing, online courses, or my downloadable resources.
On Day 9, my offer will be opened to everyone, and you’ll see that I’m pitching in a one-hour author coaching session for free to the winner. But again, if you miss out and don’t win, you can STILL take advantage of 20% off any services booked now through December 31, 2020.
When you first visit the website for the advent calendar event, be sure to bookmark the page so you can easily find it each day and enter to win the prize offered that day. HINT: be sure to submit early each day and enter in as many ways allowed to increase your odds of winning the prize you want most.
Finally, be sure to leave a comment on each day where you enter to win, or even if you just want to thank Angela, Becca, and all the experts for pitching in and creating this amazing holiday event for authors. You can do this by clicking on the “comment” button at the bottom of each prize’s page.
Okay, here’s the link you need to start participating in the Advent Calendar for Authors event immediately:
We’re already 3 days in, but there are still 11 days left worth of great, helpful prizes for authors. And consider using this event as a way to send a gift to a fellow writer friend! If you want to enter on their behalf, you have to enter with their info OR you can simply win the prize then check with the expert and make sure they don’t mind you transferring it to a friend. I know I’d be fine with it. But you might want to double-check.
That’s it for this week’s blog post, folks. The next few weeks are not only smack-in-the-middle of the holidays, but I’m also in the process of moving to my forever home and new office (yes, right as soon as it starts snowing!), so there may not be any new blog posts until January 2021. But don’t forget about us! I promise to be back soon with more helpful tips, tricks, and advice to help you write your best book!
